Under the direction of the Township Manager, the Community Planning and Development Director is responsible for overseeing the planning administration and day-to-day operations of the Planning and Economic Development Department to assure community-wide compliance with applicable Township development codes and ordinances.  Prepares and implements the Township’s strategic plan, zoning ordinance, subdivision ordinance and other land use policies.  Provides technical expertise and administrative support to the Planning Commission, Zoning Board, DDA and Township Board. This position has an emphasis on economic development, industry, business and government policy.  It calls for creativity, flexibility in scope of work and design-thinking due to the diverse nature of projects.

  • Lead implementation of the Economic Development Strategic (EDS) plan
  • Focus on industrial and commercial development, including business development in the city's downtown area (Joseph Campau), on other commercial corridors (Conant, Caniff and Holbrook) and development within the multiple industrial zones of the city

development activities is required. AICP Certification is required, or is required to be obtained within one year.
